Mini URL Shortener - Link Management System

Mini URL Shortener is a clean, production-ready MERN-stack web application designed to solve the problem of unwieldy, messy web links. It allows users to quickly paste any long URL and receive an auto-generated 6-character short link or create their own branded custom alias.

System Architecture

The project follows a clean, decoupled MVC-inspired client-server architecture:

Frontend: Pure React.js with hooks (useState, useEffect) and native browser fetch() — zero heavy UI dependencies.

Backend: Node.js and Express.js REST API handling URL encoding, route redirects, and MongoDB interactions.

Database: MongoDB with Mongoose ODM storing URL mappings, click counts, and access timestamps.

• clicks: Real-time visit counter (Number, default 0)
• lastAccessedAt: Timestamp of the most recent redirect (Date)
• createdAt: Timestamp of link generation (Date)
