TeleCare — Telemedicine Platform with Tamper-Resistant e-Prescription Module

Overview

TeleCare is a production-ready educational MERN-stack telemedicine platform tailored for university viva examinations, academic evaluations, and final-year student project submissions.

The platform provides a complete digital outpatient department (OPD) workflow enabling remote healthcare consultations, multi-specialty doctor directories, conflict-free appointment booking, and tamper-resistant digital e-prescriptions.

Key Architectural Highlights

Role-Based Clinical Access Control:

1. Patient: Register, browse doctors by specialization, book consultation slots with instant conflict detection, view appointment history, access doctor advice, and view/print verified e-prescriptions.
2. Doctor: Dedicated virtuaRole-Based Clinical Access Control:
   l OPD workspace to record symptoms, primary clinical diagnoses, patient instructions, and confidential internal physician notes (automatically sanitized from patient views). Issue multi-drug e-prescriptions.
3. Administrator: Comprehensive dashboard metrics, system audit logs, user management with safe account deactivation, and doctor credential approvals.

Atomic Concurrency & Conflict-Free Booking:

1. Built-in compound database indexes (doctor, date, time) and atomic conflict checking eliminate double-booking race conditions (409 Conflict).
2. Strict validation automatically rejects past dates and invalid doctor working days.

Demographic Snapshotting & Prescription Immutability:

1. When a doctor finalizes a consultation and issues a prescription, the system permanently freezes current doctor credentials (qualifications, specialization, medical council registration number, clinic address) and patient demographics into the prescription document.
2. Prevents historical data corruption if doctor details change later.
3. Once issued, prescriptions are locked against retrospective modification.

Printer-Ready Medical Slip:

• Optimized CSS @media print generates a crisp, authentic clinical prescription letterhead with Rx symbols, dosage frequency tables, doctor signature blocks, and academic evaluation disclaimers.

100% Lightweight & Dependency-Free:

1. Pure ES6+ JavaScript, React 18, and pure Vanilla CSS.
2. Zero complex third-party paid subscriptions (no WebRTC servers, no payment gateways, no heavy UI libraries).

System Architecture & Database Design

1. Three-Tier Architecture: Client SPA (React + Redux Toolkit + Axios) → REST API (Express + JWT + Helmet + Rate Limit) → Document Database (MongoDB Atlas / Mongoose).
2. Mongoose Models: User, DoctorProfile, Appointment, Consultation, Prescription.
3. Port Allocation: Server runs on dedicated port 5008; Client on port 3000/3001 with proxy configuration.
